The Alba Regia Technical Faculty of Óbuda University represented itself at the international conference: Modern Technologies in the third Millennium at Nagyvárad State University on 23-24 March, 2017.
The Faculties of Civil Engineering, Land Surveying and Architecture were the host faculties. We have had years of professional and personal contact with our colleagues at the university, namely with István Suba and Norbert Suba, who regularly take part at our annual GISOpen conference. Two of our teachers gave lectures at the conference. Lóránt Földváry’s lecture was about „Accuracy Assessment of UAV for Surveying”; János Katona’s lecture dealt with „Statistical Values for Assuring Productivity in Land Consolidation”.
The venue of the conference was in the recently refurbished castle providing a unique atmosphere to the lectures on modern technologies. Despite the shortage of time and the tense space of the event our hosts were able to take us for a sightseeing tour and to the site of a current engineering geodesy works . There has been a land-slide on the so called Kálvária-hill, which damaged the public utilities and moved away the pieces of a building tens of meters from their original place. It happened in November, last year. The motion of the earth has been regulary measured since then by our colleagues at Nagyvárad State University. At the closing dinner of the conference we planned the possibilities of our future co-operation in the form of the Erasmus program and international conferences.
