4th Harman Hackathon

Following the preliminaries, 14 teams were invited to the finals of the 4th “Junior Engineers Camp – HARMAN Hackathon,” an idea and prototype development competition jointly organized for the fourth time by Harman Becker Ltd., the Alba Regia Technical Faculty of Obuda University, and the Municipality of Székesfehérvár. The teams arrived in Székesfehérvár for the 24-hour development challenge from Szeged, Pécs, Budapest, Dunaújváros, Veszprém, and Kecskemét.

In the finals, the participating teams were tasked with creating a prototype of an innovative technological solution that contributes to sustainable, safe, and enjoyable urban transportation in the year 2055, at the level of a mid-sized European city. They had to take into account the growth of urban populations, the transformation of energy resources, environmental awareness, and autonomous systems as part of everyday life.

The hackathon began with a warm-up mini concert by students of the Székesfehérvár Vocational Training Center Széchenyi István Technical School, followed by a performance by illusionist Balázs V. Kiss. At the opening ceremony, Deputy Mayor Attila Mészáros, Csaba István Purgel, Managing Director of Harman Becker Ltd., and Prof. Dr. György Györök, Dean of the Alba Regia Technical Faculty of Obuda University, welcomed the teams.

The winner in the university category was Palotai MotorSOKK, consisting of members Sándor Borz from the University of Pannonia, Dominik Vaczula from Obuda University’s Alba Regia Faculty, and Krisztián Major from the Székesfehérvár Vocational Training Center Széchenyi István Technical School. Their project presented a model of a communicative intersection connected to a self-developed application that recommends optimal speed and route options for faster, shorter, and safer travel.

After the pitches and the award ceremony, each team received Harman Dollars according to their ranking, which they could exchange for premium-quality audio devices.

We trust that participants enriched themselves with numerous experiences, new knowledge, and inspiring professional connections through this informal learning environment, and that many of them will choose a future career along the STEAM pathways.
