In the framework of the research project “Mapping and modelling the crime perception gap”, Prof. Ourania Kounadi, a lead researcher at the University of Vienna, and members of her research team Mariana Vallejo Velázquez and Qilei Huang (contact details of the research team: https://geographie.univie.ac.at/arbeitsgruppen/digital-geography/) visited Budapest on 22-23 July. On the Hungarian side, Dr. Andrea Pődör, Prof. Klára Kerezsi and Levente Gulyás participated in the meeting. At the meeting, we reviewed the results of the first year of the research and identified the tasks and milestones for the coming year.
The main aim of the research is to identify patterns and gain insights into the factors that influence the crime perception gap phenomenon. To achieve this, we survey and analyse places people perceive as safe or unsafe.
The research is carried out through an online questionnaire and we are looking for additional participants’ views:
