Victory and Special Award at the Aruba Cloud Hackathon – Success of the Syntax Team

Students from Óbuda University have achieved outstanding results at the Aruba Cloud Hackathon 2025. The Syntax team, composed of four students from the Alba Regia Faculty (AMK) and one student from the John von Neumann Faculty of Informatics (NIK), won 1st place nationally and also received the prestigious AI Campus Special Award.

The competition took place on September 6–7, organized by Aruba Cloud, one of Europe’s leading cloud service providers. During the 24-hour hackathon, 27 teams from higher education institutions competed by solving tasks developed by Aruba Cloud experts, all within the company’s cloud environment.

The Syntax team chose the “Green Impact” challenge, which focused on developing an environmentally conscious application. Their solution was a web-based application designed to help users track their ecological awareness, receive personalized advice, and use artificial intelligence to answer questions related to reducing their carbon footprint.

Team members:

  • Levente Laib – Team captain, 3rd-year Computer Engineering student (AMK)
  • Péter Kristóf Jákob – 3rd-year Computer Engineering student (AMK)
  • László Ádám Pásztóhy – 4th-year Computer Engineering student (AMK)
  • Balázs Szabó – 3rd-year Computer Engineering student (AMK)
  • Ádám Ferenc Pinczési – 3rd-year Computer Engineering student (NIK)

According to the team’s report, they faced several challenges during the competition, but thanks to well-organized task distribution and strong team cohesion, they successfully developed their application, which ultimately impressed the jury.

“After last year’s experience, we were determined to participate again. This time, we came with more knowledge, more experience, and even greater enthusiasm. We’re very happy with the result and grateful for the opportunity to take part in the competition.” – László Ádám Pásztóhy

We congratulate the Syntax team on their outstanding achievement and wish them continued success in their academic and professional careers!
